Freescale goes GPONing

Freescale, a chip company that was carved out of Motorola says it has launched a new GPON subsystem that was co-developed with Alcatel-Lucent. ALU recently became one of the big suppliers of GPON gear to Verizon’s FiOS network, that is going through major speed upgrades, shifting away from BPON to GPON. Freescale recently went private in a $17.6 billion deal.
