Acclaimed television producer Stephen Bochco is set to lend his imprimatur to a channel of webcam confessional clips on Metacafe called “Cafe Confidential” starting March 19. The Next Net blog says the categories will include “My First Time,” “My Weird Family,” and “Most Embarrassing Moment.”

Stephen BochcoAfter 20,000 views, Metacafe pays $5 per additional 1,000 views, and with front page play and Bochco’s involvement these clips will probably see more traffic than most. Lonelygirl15 is the number one personality on YouTube, drawing 23,000 more subscribers than the second place channel.

But I’m willing to bet that there will probably be other prizes involved — maybe in lieu of cash, it might be professional advice and help, or an opportunity to get auditions for bit parts in real productions, a la Jessica Lee Rose’s move into ‘real’ acting. Bochco’s Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue were classics of the genre, and if he could make a star of Dennis Franz, he might be able to give some juice to a fresh face just waiting to be discovered.
