Meebo took a first step towards monetizing its fast growing user base. The company has just lured Martin Green, a veteran of C/Net and Senior Vice President of Community to join them as Vice President of Business. His job will be to work on business development and sales. Meebo recently raised $9 million in Series B funding with Draper Fisher Jurvetson leading the round. The company had previously raised $3.5 million in Series A funding, mostly from Sequoia Capital.

This is a great win for Meebo. Martin has been with CNET for more than a decade and has worn many hats and been on the inside of many businesses. Plus he’s well connected in this space.

He has tons of internet knowledge and is a very smart guy to boot.

Congrats to Martin and Meebo!

There’s no way meebo could have burned through 3.5 million. I don’t get it. Baffles the mind.

Congrats to Seth and the team for landing Martin. He is going to be a boon to the company and a loss for Cnet
