I just did it again and got 1,620 hits for “defective PS3″, 2,730 for “defective 360″. I once got a much different response similar to what you’re describing when I searched via the Google toolbar, but if you do the search at the Google.com homepage, it comes consistently close to what I originally blogged. (At least today.)

Hey, i don´t know how you guys did the Google-search, but when i do the same thing i get a larger number for “defective PS3″ than for Xbox 360…

Or because the 360 has been on the market for an entire year before the wii and ps3.

That said, PS3 has wracked up more than 50% of the total returns of the Xbox360 in 1/4 of the time.

Although, I’d venture to say that most of the 360 returns happened during the first six months as well. That seems to be any console’s trial by fire.

Uh… perhaps the reason that there are more reports of defective 360′s is because there are more 360′s out there than anything else? If all three consoles have the same percentage of defective machines, the one with the most units in use will naturally have the most actual number of issues.
