I often use Google Maps for directions and send those directions to friends. The problem is: that blasted URL is longer than the TOS for a wireless carrier! Download Squad comes to the rescue by pointing out tinymap. Think of it as a Google Map mashed up with TinyURL because that’s essentially what it is!

Using a Google Map interface, you can add waypoints, notes and points of interest to create your own set of directions. Once you’ve got your route planned, you simply save the map and a TinyURL-like address appears to send your geographically challenged cohorts; one click on the short URL (example above) and they’ve got the map you planned!
