Battle for iPhone . . . Happy Ending?

Will Apple and Cisco hash out the iPhone fisticuffs by next Wednesday? Cisco says it’s giving Apple even more time to negotiate. Perhaps there is an amicable ending somewhere on the horizon of trademark law and the buzziest name in the mobile industry, though there’s only a few days til the new deadline. Cisco says:

Apple has asked Cisco for another extension on the deadline for Apple to respond to our lawsuit. Cisco has agreed to give Apple an extension until Wednesday, Feb. 21. Cisco is fully committed to using the extra time to reach a mutually beneficial resolution.

Last time I talked to the Cisco crew about the iPhone name game in Vegas, they were trying to appear confident that Apple had agreed to their terms. Uh, right. Days later Cisco said it would sue Apple over the name. Now they’re talking again, though it’s obviously taking more time to reach any kind of agreement than first expected.

It looks like this one is headed for an out-of-court cash settlement.

There’s an intriguing article about the significance of the iPhone pricing structure here:

I agree with you shandy1948. I see Apple paying out a pile of cash and everyone being happy.
