Continental Europe’s leading online dating site Meetic is buying its British peer, DatingDirect, for about $52.8 million. The deal should close later this month.
The group, already present in 14 European countries and China and Brazil, planned to expand further this year, the company CEO said in this Reuters story. Meetic had sales of about $56 million in 2005, while DatingDirect had sales of about $21 million in 2006.

  2. Internet dating is yet to prove a successful enterprise longterm. 52.8 million is a huge price to take over your competition.
