I think this is the lull before the storm. Kids are bored half the time… there's lots of downtime in most people's lives, and people will gravitate towards the easiest, most convenient form of entertainment that's available. Music, video and games will be on everyone's devices, and people will use all three depending on their mood and the situation.

The thing holding people back is expensive data plans, handsets that offer a highly degraded experience or none at all, and lack of general awareness. But all three of those will change over the next two years.

Remember video online back in 2001. YouTube would have been nothing. Most people said "No Thanks!" until the ecosystem was ready.

I think the iPhone will help drive overall sales of mobile phones. Motorola and Nokia will come out with highly competitive phones, and we'll see a wave of upgrades to more expensive devices.

Also, in the not-to-distant future, China and India will transition from the low-end phones to mid-range phones that support basic photos and apps. In these emerging markets, the phone will become the equivalent of the portable PC, and that will spur a high growth in data services.

In that respect, I think there's still a lot of play in the mobile handset market and potential for growth.
