False Alarm on AdCenter & Mac. Apologies to readers

Our post about Microsoft AdCenter not working with Mac was not correct. The AdCenter doesn’t work with Safari. The trigger finger got in the way of careful reporting. I apologize to the readers and have taken it down.

If you have been trying to buy advertising on Microsoft’s new AdCenter using a Mac, well don’t bother. AdCenter doesn’t work with Macs. A small e-tailer who recently switched to a Mac learned this the hard way, and in the end decided that he would rather spend his ad dollars with Google.
Funny, the adCenter is not compatible with Microsoft Vista as well. I am just thinking out loud here, but if as a company you are trying to take down Google’s core business, then isn’t it important to take dollars from all comers, every which way you can?

Here is an excerpt from an email the e-tailer received from Microsoft. I have XXXed out names, just to ensure privacy. (I am signing up with AdCenter to reaffirm this email and see what happens.)

Dear Sir/Ma’am,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft adCenter Support, my name is XXXXXX.

… The latency that you are encountering is being caused by the operating system you are using, which is the Mac. At this time adCenter is not compatible with Macs, and is compatible with the following:

-Windows 98 or later, not including Vista

-Internet Explorer 6 or later

-Firefox 1.5
