The Virtua Fighter franchise, long considered to be a Sony exclusive, is also going to be seeing a XBox 360 release, according to Next Generation. Sega recently announced that the arcade-based fighting game, Virtua Fighter 5, would be released in the late summer of 2007 in North America and Europe. The PS3 version of Virtua Fighter 5 is being released on the PS3 this February.

Sony has taken quite a few hits lately with the loss of some of its more lucrative exclusives. At the last E3, Microsoft announced that Grand Theft Auto IV will receive a simultaneous release on both the 360 and the PS3 in 2007. The Grand Theft Auto series is one of Sony’s best selling franchises and was definitely a system seller for the PS2. Sony cannot be happy with this development after already losing several other exclusive titles, such as Assassin’s Creed. Someone needs to load up the money truck and start making the rounds – we all know that Microsoft will.
