Last week I ran into J.J. Allaire, and he showed off some of the work his team has done on Windows Live Writer, and it looks pretty good. The updates will come soon, and they are well worth a wait. Unfortunately, I cannot say more because JJA will kill me. Oh, I can tell you it now looks like most Windows Live applications.
