I just left Verizon after 4+ years. No big problems, but I wanted a world-band phone. By now you should be able to take your phone anywhere in the world and use it. VZW needs to do something about that.

With Vodafone (in Italy) there are usually Christmas and summer deals for free SMS and MMS and discounted phone calls.
