As the pure play travel portals still dominate the online ticketing business, here are the brick-and-mortar travel agencies looking at launching their own online travel sites. The companies looking at adopting an hybrid model include International Travel House (ITH), which is planning to launch its online booking website by first week of January 2007, while both Cox and Kings and SOTC are also looking at launching their portals by March 2007, says a report in The Economic Times.
Interestingly, ITH had planned to launch its portal two years ago, but it deferred its launch since they “ran into a spam issue”. The company says the portal development and payment gateway integration and so on are underway.
