Couple of senior appointments with an interesting editorial twist:
— (via Buzzmachine): Chicago Tribune has named Bill Adee associate managing editor for innovation, a new position that will “help shape editorial Internet initiatives, prepare the newsroom for an increasingly digital future and spearhead the newspaper’s efforts to produce quality journalism online”. He will oversee a restructured editorial department merging the multi-media staff and the 24- hour news desk and supervise all online news and feature operations.
— Peter Bale, former editorial director of Times Online, has been appointed as executive producer for Microsoft’s UK online services group, where he will be responsible for content on MSN and on the Windows Live portal. Bale left Times Online in October after a management shakeup…Bale has a background in mainstream news at Reuters and as managing editor for the Financial Times’ Marketwatch service. Microsoft has also appointed Alex Payne as group marketing director and Kate Isler as chief of staff. Steve Vamos, a former Apple vice president and Microsoft Australia CEO, has also been appointed as VP of online services group international.
