Google invests less than $1M in Meraki for indoor WiFi…

Compared to other companies its size, Google makes few venture investments, preferring to buy companies…

I think Meraki is a scaled up[Technology] Fonero which will let people share the net with or without cost. So one thing is clear, Google is backing the open wireless internet as it is an investor in Fon.com too.

Rajeev, the main advantage of Meraki is that they also have a network management system so that the ISP can provision the user devices. Meraki's target market is service providers, not end users.

Google is one of several bridge investors in Meraki Networks, a wireless mesh provider that Google has shown interest in regarding the San Francisco WiFi Project, Katie Fehrenbacher writes on GigaOm. co-founder Sanjit Biswas Biswas wouldn’t specify t…

man that is some cool stuff…my only concern is that network sharing may violate every isp's terms of service…if not, i'd love to get some folks to donate and set up a shared neighborhood network, maybe do another for the town center area (you know, to take down tmobile's starbucks thing)…

has anybody examined conflicts with the isp user agreements on shared network bandwidth?

also, now that millennial has been acquired, they oughta hire their brilliant mit brethren (sokwoo and sheng, both right down the street dudes!)…these guys already solved some power consumption puzzles for ad hoc self organizing wireless mesh, perhaps they could apply their brains to the consumer problem? sokwoo, are you reading this?
