Backup_palHere’s a hardware solution for anyone who regularly switches cell phone models (or just seems to keep losing the phone they have): Backup-Pal. The standalone unit contains a small 128 Kb of internal memory and is fitted with an adapter for your phone; multiple phone models means you’ll need multiple adapters, of course. The solution is simple and elegant, reminiscent of a one-touch external hard drive backup solution. Simply attach your phone to the Backup-Pal and hold the backup button for 3 seconds, just like the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch…."shalt thou count to three. No more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out."

USB connectivity is also supported, so if you want to edit those contacts on a PC where it’s a bit easier, you can do that too. Although the product is not yet available, could it be "The Holy Grail" of cellular contact backups? If you’d prefer a software or service solution, we’ve previously introduced you to Zyb, so there’s another option. Option 3 is to never change phone models again….ri-i-i-ight.

  1. Of course if we had a GSM phone carrier Kevin we’d have a SIM card with all that stuff backed up. I’ve heard that T-Mobile has those but I wouldn’t know.
