Roll Your Own Multimedia Search

Pixsy, a startup that licenses its photo and video search tools to other websites in exchange for revenue sharing, has been saying for a while it will launch a customizable search widget for bloggers and MySpace pages. Below the jump, Pixsy CEO Chase Norlin gives us a screenshot of the service, called PixsyPower, which he said should go live within two weeks.

PixsyPower will be along the lines of Eurekster, Rollyo, Yahoo Search Builder, and Google Co-op, but for multimedia. We can see this having more pop than customizable text search engines because of the value of fresh pics to fan sites for celebrities and sports teams and the like. Pixsy’s search engine is primarily shaped around RSS feeds (though it has added crawling), in an attempt to emphasize the newest results.
