Hp_ipaq_hw6920HP’s hw6920 Mobile Messenger is Cingular’s Halloween treat for you next week. The smartphone handheld has support for the GSM/GPRS/EDGE wireless data network and includes Wi-Fi, GPS, infrared and Bluetooth integration. The GPS will work with various software, but Cingular is touting the TeleNav GPS Locator, which allows users to "get turn-by-turn voice and onscreen directions directly on the device for use when driving or walking. TeleNav GPS Navigator, which also provides information on more than 10 million points of interest and additional search tools, is available as a subscription service from Cingular." Not so sure I’d want a GPS subscription service: if I skipped the bill, they’d always know where to find me!

The hw6920 will run on the Windows Mobile 5.0 platform and will come preloaded with the Messaging and Security Feature Pack, so you’ll have the opportunity for Direct Push e-mail right out of the gate, provided you are connecting to a Microsoft Exchange Server running SP2. There will be two variations of the series next week: the hw6925 includes a built-in 1.3 megapixel shooter, while the hw6920 has no camera. The new handheld is geared towards the business class as it’s available through Cingular’s B2B area for $359.99 with a two-year agreement.
