Satellite_r25_meromToshiba just slipped the Merom, or Core 2 Duo, chip into the latest R25 Satellite tablet. Accroding to Laptoping, this is the Intel T5200 running at 1.6 GHz with 2 MB of L2 cache. For around $1,500, you get a relatively powerful tablet that’s certified as Vista Premium Ready:

  • 14.1 widescreen display
  • Intel 945GM Express chipset
  • 100 GB hard drive (5400 RPM)
  • 1 GB of RAM
  • 5-in-1 media card reader

This size "L" tablet sounds like a good desktop replacement that will also future-proof you for Vista and keep you mobile…if you want to lug around a six pound tablet, that is. Then again, this R25 is much more potent than my old Toshiba M205 and is about $700 less than I paid two years ago!
