My .mac account was scheduled to expire on November 2nd 2006, so I went to The Apple Store on 5th Avenue NYC and Purchased a New Activation Key to Re-new my existing .mac account, which I did at the Apple Store with the aid of a competant apple rep. on the same evening of the 2nd of november, Hours before my .mac account was scheduled to expire.

It appeared as though all was well since the next day on November 3rd, 2006, the scheduled day of my account expiration, I received a "Thank You for Re-newal e-mail " from The .MAC Team, however the next day when I attempted to Log-in to my .mac account I was greeted with a "We've Missed You, You can Re-new now Etc, Etc." Message.

Now, you can imagin my supprise upon reading this message considering that, I had just doled out $100.00 for an new activation key to both Re-new and prevent just this kind of occurrence from happening the day before and having received E-mail conformation that my .mac account had been successfully Re-newed.

To add insult to injury, I was unaware of the fact that there is no Phone support for instances such as this and that no one at any of the apple stores I went to in order to remedy this issue would not have either a CLUE or SOLUTION as to how to correct the situation.

I have sent numerous e-mails to customer service and the .mac team and to date Sat.11/25/06 6:30pm EST. I have not heard a Peep from nor have I received an E-mail response from any one regarding any corrective measures, Reimbursment, credit to my account Nada!!!.

Though I am not going to relinquish my efforts just yet, I am deeply disappointed in Apples lack of response and for not putting a more sound system in place to ensure that their customers receive the highest quality service that they can offer.

If there is anyone out there that can offer a sound solution to my dilemma PLEASE E-mail me at xyx7777@msn.com

That’s REALLY pretty, but I’d never pay $100/yr or whatever for an email service.

You're not alone. But you don't have to pay $100/year for DotMac. I've posted a how-to save 20%-50% on .Mac here:

http://homepage.mac.com/cherrypop/blogappleproject/files/2181b108aaec7cdc4260c3d574675109-29.html

Hope that saves a few people some money.

The .mac user interface looks a lot like Yahoo! Mail Beta's and it's really nice. I hope Gmail gets a makeover too. I'm so sick and tired of no drag-and-drop and the plain blue color.

It certainly looks like .mac is going to go Web 2.0 And as we all know it is a long time coming. Plus, now they have a Google CEO on their board of directors. So it will be interesting to see what they roll out in the coming months. Perhaps the rumored 'Numbers' app will have .Mac integration. But we all know, they have to do a total overhall of .Mac

It would be nice to think that your complaint triggered this, but a change as large as what they are doing would have a MUCH longer development cycle than just a couple of months.

Interesting direction with MacMail. I wonder if it also has the features and functionalities of the new Mail app as featured in Leopard (the drag & drop images to mail templates, etc) it'll be nice.

Very pretty -- it's still not worth a hundred bucks per year. My decision to let my .mac account expire in a couple of weeks is unchanged.

Let's see if it comes with the nre Intel core 2 dueo for mobile and the new case, all expected before the holiday season.. The big bonus is the 64 bit architecture.. bigger pipes.. making all mobile machines prior, perhaps obsolete.. Cheers mike from www.videokarma.com
