The ongoing argument about mobile viruses continues, with Nokia claiming that antivirus companies — particularly F-Secure — are over-hyping the problem in order to sell their products. Of course, Nokia has a vested interest in creating a public opinion that its Symbian operating system is safe. At this point mobile viruses aren’t much of a threat because they require social engineering techniques to spread, they can’t do it automatically, and Nokia claims that it is steering the Symbian operating system so that it will be naturally resistant to these kinds of attacks.
