HuffingtonPost.com, a fast-growing news and blogged-opinion site, has an immediate opening for a Product Manager.
You are tech savvy, love the web, love blogs, and like interacting with people online. You may not be a programmer, but you have a clue about how web technology works and how to use it. You want to be actively engaged in managing, promoting, supporting, and improving Huffington Post’s offerings within a start-up environment.
Primary responsibilities include:
Managing Huff Post’s product lines, including setting and meeting product-specific metrics (i.e. subscribers, unique visitors, pageviews, operating budget, sellable ad inventory, etc.)
Formulate and manage product roadmap for several initiatives including:
(i) The Contagious Festival, an ongoing open competition for user-generated web projects
(ii) Daily Brief Email, An Email highlight of the day’s top news story, Arianna Huffington’s latest blog post, and a selection of takes from HuffPost’s roster of over 700 bloggers
(iii) Community tools, including Huff Post’s approach to commenting and managing community interaction with the Blog and News
(iv) New Products.
Manage vendor relationships, including email blaster and video platform partner.
Provide core (and ongoing) maintenance for existing products:
(i) Contagious Festival: Review entries, recruit new contestants, provide tech support and encouragement to current contestants, and manage monthly prize fulfillment.
(ii) Daily Brief Email: Help prepare email blasts, analyze performance of existing email efforts, grow subscriber list, work with editorial team to improve content, monitor and improve performance of advertising product within email, and manage email blaster partner relationship.
(iii) Community tools: Develop and manage strategy for comment moderation and reader feedback, provide tech support for contributors, and outreach for recruiting new contributors, where needed.
Serve as team project manager for new initiatives
Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of work experience, preferably in online product/project or brand management and will be comfortable with an individual contributor role. BA/BS required. Basic Excel and Powerpoint skills needed. Photoshop a plus.
