The whole Place shifting thing is seems to be the hottest stuff in Home Entertainment and consumer Electronics space . after Sling ,Sage and Mobi Tv now San Mateo based Snappy Multimedia (www.snappymultimedia.com ) also wants to have a slice of the place shifting Pie . they have recently launched their warless video streamer product called HAVA .

I had a hard time choosing a place shifting device for me . finally I settled for HAVA . I placed order on snappy website and I received my HAVA Device Today and based on my initial experience with set up and Video Quality I can safely say that there quality is far superior than that of sling and with the added benefit of having the ability to use HAVA over wireless LAN choosing HAVA is a no brainier .

They have promised to come up with a windows Mobile client soon . That’s one more reason to spend my bucks on HAVA.

with so much competition its unlikely that sling can remain "King Of the Hill " for a long time . There recent announcement of encrypting the stream was a major reason in my deciding to go with Hava. I am curious to see how executives of sling going to react to that

If it is formated properly video looks fine, especially on a smart phone or PDA. I have heard people are already using Orb and Slingbox to stream video to their phones and Alvelda did not address that threat. I think Sprint's PDA unlimited data plan is only $25/month and even Verizon only charges $40. I think the trend will be towards more capable phones and even with data plans at current prices, device centric services that have to cater to a lowest common denominator may be in big trouble.
