Responsible for leading the process with NPR Digital Media for multi-disciplinary projects that include technology, user experience, business, and editorial components; oversees the implementation of established project methodologies in accordance with best industry practices, managing schedule/budget/resource needs for projects, coordinating team member activities, and aligning stakeholder and business goals to result in innovative, high-quality interactive products and services.
Qualifications:
BS/BA degree – MBA or MS/MA in Computer Science or Information Technology or related area is a plus. Six to ten years experience in project management or other multi-disciplinary leadership role for Internet-related projects; experience in one or more of the following environments is desirable; online publishing, digital media, e-commerce, online financial services or online retail services; proven skills in leading and motivating teams in a dynamic, high-stress environment; experience negotiating contracts and managing relationships with outside vendors; experience working in a highly collaborative environment where all team members are invited to provide input to major decision; ability to communicate at all levels of the organization (including senior management and peer groups) on issues of strategy and ongoing operations. Expert familiarity with the tools and process of project management including the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBok); strong familiarity with current techniques and practices of software requirements definition, user-center design, and usability analysis; skilled use of project management software (Microsoft Project), flowchart/wireframing and process documentation software (Microsoft Visio), and standard office applications (Microsoft Office); actionable knowledge of the digital media landscape including current industry and user trends, emerging technologies, and standards; familiarity with implementation and ongoing customization of Web and analytics applications, content management systems, and/or other mission-critical business applications; strong familiarity with current technologies involved in Internet-based applications including client-side (HTML, JavaScript, CSS) server-side technologies (PHP, ASP, Java, relational databases), and related standards (XML, RSS, Section 508/WAI, Dublin Core); ability to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data and present findings and recommendations; strong oral and written communication skills, to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences; ability to effectively and efficiently set priorities and handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; and demonstrated ability to work well independently or on a team, always showing respect for the diverse constituencies at NPR and within the public radio system; ability to engender trust and establish actionable consensus among these constituencies.
