Robert Scoble, one of the more well known bloggers and Microsoft’s public face in the blogosphere is reportedly leaving the company and joining Podtech.net, a podcast start-up, according to Silicon Valley Watcher. When contacted, Podtech founder John Furrier offered a “no comment.” Scoble did not return phone calls. SVW seems to be fairly confident about the news. Scoble through his blog has helped transform Microsoft into a kinder, gentler giant. We will wait to hear from Scoble.

  1. Further evidence. Listen to this podcast. http://www.waxxi.us/naked_conv.html. In it he saids that he has done some job interviews and the people have brought up his blog. It is either in part one or two. And if I am wrong please don’t get angry at me.

  2. Yeah, it’s true.

  3. Wow. A stunner. But maybe not really.

  4. This is not surprising one bit. It’s about having the “personal brand”, star alignment, and… carpe diem. You can see this reflected in charts here.

  5. this is pretty amazing news and i think in many ways a net win for podtech and not such good news for folks at microsoft. hopefully this works out well for all parties.

  6. Remember Marc Andreessen? Remember Loud Cloud? Does anyone talk about Opsware these days?

Yah. Like that. Scoble just punched the clock on his fifteen minutes.

  7. Haha nicely said, Rebort

  8. But, don’t think for a second the Andreessen’s or the Scoble’s aren’t having fun or aren’t happy. I’d want to be closer to the things that matter in life (like my son or my brother). And, if I could do something that I love doing at the same time I’d trade all that buzz and be grateful for my fifteen minutes.

Buzz does not necessarily equal “happy” or “successful”.

And, there are lots of good things going on that don’t get talked about much. Mr. Malik knows this far better than we do… he’s in a space where talking about good stuff no one else has glommed onto yet translates to circulation.

Let’s work on OUR fifteen minutes and hope we shine as bright as those before us (singing cumbya now) :)

  9. Hey Om, Can you let Microsoft know I’m available if they’re looking for a replacement blogger. ;)

  10. Dave, I have already placed the call on your behalf. hopefully you get the call. – ;-)

  11. Yeah but Scoble isn’t going to have anything to report about now that he has left Microsoft.

    Share
  12. Oh well, he has at least taken a brave decision to do something different rather than sit on his ass for the rest of his life in MS.

  13. Apparently Om’s buddy Niall Kennedy is the new Scoble at Microsoft :D

    Best of luck to him.
