Om Malik, Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 4:30 PM PT Comments (2)

Del.icio.us has redesigned its home page, and add a new hot list feature. I like this hot list feature!
You’ll notice that the del.icio.us homepage now features a hotlist which is updated every hour to show you the top three most popular links as of that moment. These links are taken directly from the popular page, [...]

Om Malik, Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 9:49 AM PT Comments (21)

New technologies are creating new business opportunities on the Internet, on mobile phones, in consumer products, and in information services. And In Other VoIP News

Om Malik, Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 7:14 AM PT Comments (0)

* Streamcast, makers of Morpheus have sued eBay, claiming that Skype is using their technology. Andy had this information way way back, but there have been some amendments to the suit. It all about squeezing out some dollars from eBay. Nothing more, nothing less.

Om Malik, Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 6:28 AM PT Comments (2)

Router guru and networking industry veteran, Tony Li, has joined the board of advisors of Vyatta, an open source router company I had written about earlier, here and for Business 2.0 magazine. This is quite a coup for the tiny company, since Li is widely regarded as one of the smartest guys in routing, having [...]

Gizmo Project, a soft phone developed by Michael Robertson’s SIPphone has been upgraded to what else: version 2.0. And it is truly 2.0, and has some major enhancements. (Michael’s Thoughts can be read here.)
One of the biggest improvements is that it now works with Asterisk, an open source PBX software that is just growing in [...]

That works out to about $531 million in funding raised from the markets. Citigroup, Deutsche Bank Securities, and UBS were the joint book-runners. The stock [...]

The Future Is Mobile

Om Malik, Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 8:18 AM PT Comments (13)

Business 2.0 has an excellent feature by Carlo Longino on the mobile future, and how mobile technologies are going to get even more enmeshed in our lives.
Phones that get you into concerts, tell co-workers not to call now - or even display which friends are at a show. The next phase of the mobile revolution [...]

And Now For The Vonage IPO

Om Malik, Monday, May 22, 2006 at 8:23 PM PT Comments (16)

Vonage, the company that introduced a haunting jingle and low cost voice calls over the Internet to the masses is all set to go public. The company is likely to start trading tomorrow, according to news reports, despite some last minute doubts about its long term viability. The plan is to sell 31.25 million shares [...]
