Open List, an online hotel and restaurant review portal, has been bought out by online advertising/lead-gen firm Marchex, for $13 million in total. Out of the total amount, $6 million is in cash, approximately $5 million in Marchex common stock and approximately $2 million in restricted stock to employees joining the company.
Marchex said the technology initially will allow it to improve 31 of its sites that specialize in restaurant and travel listings. Open List’s content aggregation platform and search technology aggregates, interprets, and organizes information from vertical and local sites and produces structured datasets, the company said.
