Televisionpoint.com: Here is a plan to make India a digital nation by India’s Information & Broadcasting Ministry. It has drawn up a strategy to take the nation digital in the next Five Year plan (2007-12). It plans to phase out all analogue transmissions and convert them into digital. The deadline for the project, titled “Digital Delhi”, is 2010. India will go completely digital by 2015.
Prasar Bharati will take the lead by ensuring digital terrestrial broadcast for all Indian cities by 2013, which will extend to both All India Radio (AIR) and Doordarshan (DD). The conversion of cable and satellite homes from analogue to digital will be done by 2015.
