It is very speculative for now, but the two companies have discussed possible options over the course of the past year.
Some scenarios:
— Short of a wholesale acquisition, Microsoft could sell MSN to Yahoo, taking a minority stake in the Internet portal.
— Behind the scenes at Microsoft there are two factions of thinking about a Yahoo deal…One, largely led by MSN veterans, has been focused on Microsoft building its own answer to Google. So far that group has prevailed.
