Usatf_route_1 Speaking of Google Maps, if this isn’t a true "on the run" post, I don’t know what is. In this month’s print issue of "Running Times", I noticed an article on runners using Google Maps to create and share running routes, complete with reviews, mile markers and more. In fact, if you sprint over to the official USA Track & Field website, you’ll see an icon for "America’s Running Routes" where you can search for or upload routes in your area.

The directory includes the ability to describe the attributes of the route (hilly, flat, etc…) and you can even rate the routes for other runners. As an avid runner and cyclist, I love this approach to mashing up tech with sports; what a fantastic social and health-conscious use for Google Maps!
