Blackberry_2I cringed when I read the word "BerryCasting" in the press release, but otherwise, the BlackBerry Media Player from Sona sounds like a winner. The software application will allow for wireless near-television quality video streaming and other multimedia experiences on the popular handheld. Podcasts and other audio files streamed or downloaded are also supported as CanWest Media Networks will provide news for a daily Sona Mobile BerryCast. This could actually open up the door to some other podcasts looking to "sell their wares" to BlackBerry subscribers. (Anyone at Sona looking for a podcast on mobile technology? I just happen to know of one.)

The new software will be showcased during Wireless Enterprise Symposium May 16-18, 2006 in Orlando, Florida.
