One of the best constructed PDAs I have worked with in the past is the Sharp Zaurus.  I reviewed the SL-C3000 last year and the Linux-based PDA is a real workhorse that unfortunately is only available in Japan, with the exception of a few importers.  I recently ran across a UK retailer, Fig Labs, that imports several Zaurus models from Japan and Anglicizes them for customers.  Where Fig Labs differs from other importers is how they make the Zaurus pass CE Mark conformance so you can rest assured the language conversion is as good as it can be.  They currently are offering the latest model, the SL-C3200 which has the integrated 6 GB hard drive making the Zaurus one of the most capable PDAs you’ll ever see.  Prices are what you’d expect for an imported device but getting a properly converted Zaurus is worth a little extra.
