Talk about a really bad rumor! This site is reporting on a new iPhone, talking with supreme confidence that it has details of the “new iPhone.”
Of course you know its not true, because they are trying to pass off the image that appeared on the cover of Business 2.0 back in April 2005 as the “iPhone.”
Now if Steve took our suggestions and built once exactly like that — well then, it be pretty awesome! Also, when it comes to Apple rumors, just trust Think Secret. They have a history of being almost always right.

This is by far my favorite quote in the article:

Hey Gig, the first link you mention as to be claiming to be attempting to pass-off the phone image that appeared in your magazine as the actual iPhone is a little inaccurate. If you go read that link a little closer, you’ll notice the last paragraph that states,
“We’re sure that the real thing will differ considerably from this mockup, but thus far…it is by a long shot the closest thing we have seen to the information our sources provide us.”
If Apple comes out with a phone even half as cool as that thing, I’m dumping my treo 650 like a hot potato!

MacOSRumors is, hands down, my favorite source of fake-believe reporting. Also love their continual “financial problems”, bizarre site malfunctions, and ever present “story developing - check back soon!!!” tag lines.

Just thought of something… If the above iPhone was made of iPod-grade materials, then it would scratch faster than a junkie with chicken pox. Which means big bucks would go to whichever accessory maker comes up with a case that easily accommodates the sliding function.

That mock-up is old as dust and was put together on one site with loads of mockups (bad thing is this isn’t even the best one!!). My company sent it to me a while back to consider making something of that fashion but for more of a VoIP\iPOD look type device. I used that same excact picture for my proposal almost 3 months ago. Talk about wanting to be in the spotlight for news, that is the
lamest rumor to date about an iPhone, but hey I guess they are more desperate than housewives these days for iPOD news.

I agree Om, There is a line with rumors… But a bad (stolen) mockup of the ‘iPhone’ and a $2 Billion buyout for Facebook are on par in my books ;)

Why WOULDN’T Apple do an iPhone?
They almost have to. Phones will infringe on their iPod business ultimately if they don’t, and they’re now addicted to the shot in the growth arm that the iPod has given them. Apple needs to continue growing.
