Cingular’s catching up with Sprint and Verizon: it has launched its previously-announced mobile video service called Cingular Video (we covered the Turner-Cingular part below)…the service allows has three- to five-minute clips from 18 different channels, including Cartoon Network, NBC and ESPN. It has also partnered with media companies to offer exclusive content from sources such as Fox News, which will offer short clips of news, and HBO, which will offer clips of “The Sopranos,” “Sex and the City,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Entourage.”
Cingular Video will be available free of charge to Cingular customers purchasing an unlimited 3G data package, which costs $19.99 per month. To receive clips from HBO, customers will have to subscribe to a premium channel, which costs $4.99 per month.
