The Financial Express: This is the biggest sports marketing deal in India. Mumbai-based sports marketing and entertainment company Nimbus Communications bid a staggering $612.18 million (Rs 2,714 crore) to bag the four-year global media rights for cricket in India. The global bid includes rights for terrestrial, global satellite, radio and broadband. Zee Sports was the second highest bidder with a $513 million offer.
However, Nimbus does not have a channel of its own. But it will tie up with a channel for telecasting the game. Nimbus will hold the rights for 23 Test matches and 56 one-day international (ODI) matches to be held between March 1, 2006 and March 31, 2010. Apart from this, Nimbus will also telecast 72 days of domestic cricket matches. -
