MIT, Harvard plan free wireless mesh for Cambridge

Massachusetts Institute of technology is planning to unwire its hometown of Cambridge, Massachusetts, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education. MIT is collaborating with Harvard University and Boston’s Museum of Science,

Although connections will not be as fast as those of some commercial providers, they should be adequate for checking e-mail and surfing the Web, said Jerrold M. Grochow, vice president for information services and technology at MIT.
