The Los Angeles Police Department is scheduled to start a system early this year for handing out speeding tickets created on the Pocket PC. Once the speeder is pulled over the police officer swipes the driver’s license which pulls up the driver’s record. The ticket is completed on-screen and the citation is printed out on a wireless portable printer. At shift’s end the officer uploads all citations wirelessly. It’s a good system and so fast it will get the speeder back on the road in record time. I guess that’s a good thing.
