: Finally, Gannett has a top-line digital exec … John A. “Jack” Williams will oversee all internet and digital intiative for Gannett domestic in the newly created role of president, Gannett Digital. The appointment is effective immediately and, significantly, includes a spot on the Gannett Management Committee. Williams has been with Gannett for a decade, taking on hisw most recent role — SVP-diversified business and development for the Newspaper Division — in April 2003. He’s been responsible for the company’s relationships with Topix.net and CareerBuilder, among other internet responsibilities. Prior to Gannett, he was EVP of The Seattle Times Company and GM of McClatchey’s Modesto Bee. From the press release: Craig Dubrow, president and CEO, Gannett: “This appointment will allow Gannett to move forward on multiple fronts in the digital space, particularly to develop innovative approaches to serving our customers.”
