Not that I agree with everything in the article. Newsgroups make it very easy for anyone with a minor amount of skill (or an idiot who can read for 15 mins) to connect to a newsgroup server and get all the movies, xbox games, pr0n etc. that they want. It’s also worth mentioning that as Internet connection speeds get faster in the US (like they already are abroad) that fat slobbo Americans (that’s YOU) are going to be less likely to go to the music store to buy music, or order music online and wait for the USPS to deliver it) and more likely to download/stream it to their pc/slingbox/sonos/whatever. Now, those downloads can be either legal or unlawful, but you can bet that the system with the easiest interface, fewest clicks and most content is going to win. And once P2P goes SSH RIAA’s SOL.
