Opera-Microsoft – Just a Rumor

It is by far the slowest news day thus far for 2005. Emails are down, the press releases are on hold, and well, even the bloggers are out having fun. So perhaps, one can understand why the Opera-Microsoft non-story became the top story on Memeorandum. First, John Dvorak, a tech columnist and raconteur suggests that Microsoft should buy Opera, and get upto speed with the new technologies. A couple of days later, this same concept appears on a relatively unknown site, and kaboom, the blogs are talking about it. Slashdot, and Digg linked to it, so this morning the site was down. Then Opera folks issue a very strong denial. No surprise given the history of animosity between the two companies… Add it up: a very very very slow news day!
