That’s right, you read that correctly, the jkOnTheRun Audio Edition.  I have been kicking the idea around for a while for doing a short (5 – 10 minute) podcast here on jkOnTheRun  With all the other work and podcasting that I do I knew that for this to work it had to be quick and easy and since I just picked up an M-Audio Microtrack 24/96 professional handheld recording system I decided I can jump right in.  This first show was recorded on the M-Audio and you can judge for yourself how it sounds.

Microtrack_big I intend for the jkOnTheRun Audio Edition to be a regular show covering just one topic at a time so each podcast will be short enough that you can easily grab it and listen without giving up a big chunk of your day.  This show is an audio review of the M-Audio Microtrack 24/96 recorder so if you’re interested in a professional quality field recorder then give it a listen.  The Microtrack has an MSRP of $499 so it’s not cheap but you can find it on the web for much less than that- I found it for $399 so I grabbed it.

Who knows what future shows will cover, there will be a lot of mobile tech topics (naturally) but I may veer off that path from time to time to discuss items in the news.  I hope you enjoy this first show, please leave plenty of feedback and suggestions because I really want to make this your show.

Intro music:  Rock City Crimewave by the Black Furies
Outro music:  Joyride by Mr. Nasty

  1. Sounds like a great device! It may actually be too good; due to the stereo microphone, you can hear subtle variations in the left and right channel; as if your sound is slightly off-center. That’s a very minor concern on what’s a great start to the new audio feature! Is video far behind? Great job!!

  2. You just keep pushing the envelope. Bravo!

  3. Kevin, that’s because I didn’t have the device right in front of me centered so it did its job.

Warner, it’s a big envelope, somebody’s got to push it. :)

  4. Have you used it with any speech recognition or with One Note audio recordings yet?

  5. fury, no this is a self contained recording unit. It would be good for recording meetings and such but I think it would be too much trouble to import these recordings to speech programs or OneNote.
