CNET has an interesting article looking at convertible Tablets as the next desirable thing for consumers. They point out that the price differential between convertible Tablet PCs is narrowing and many consumers will opt for the additional capabilities offered by having the Tablet functionality. An interesting quote from the article:
“We can see a time in the future when we (and other OEMs) have a line of notebooks that can either be purchased in traditional or convertible form factor because they are manufactured using similar resources,” said Gateway spokeswoman Kelly Odle. Gateway is joined in the market by Acer, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, Toshiba, Fujitsu and several others.
Gateway is definitely planning on producing two versions of some notebook computers, a standard one and one enhanced with the convertible Tablet features. It’s about to break wide open.
