I think someone said earlier, Microsoft is the new IBM, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Actually from a shareholder perspective that is a fantastic idea.

But on the IT Pro (I’m talking people who run technology inside of companies) side of things I think nothing could be further from the truth. Microsoft is probably more exciting now than it has been in a long time. But developer tools and MOM and the new SQL, and Win2K3 RC2 and SP2 for Exchange and the small and medium business focused products coming out don’t play well with the gizmodo/wired/engadget crowd. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t interesting to a whole slew of us out here.
