Hulger P-Phoneclick to zoomHulger (formerly known as Pokia), a London-based company has just announced a new P-PHONE. The clunky old fashioned handset that is going to remind you of Ma Bell now comes with an adapter and a Y-CABLE which can simply be plugged into your computer and allows you to make Skype (and other VoIP) calls. And the best part – it works with a Mac. There is something cute about this cuddly handset that costs about $75.

  • Cute, yes – but also practical. Think of it as a “UI” for older people that would need access to VOIP/P2P phone systems.

  • Om, I don’t think this phone is compatible with many Macs.

For example, the PowerBooks don’t have a pre-amp on their mic inputs. And you need a pre-amp on the mic because the power from the mic is so low.

I think this is why the copy for the Hulger on Skype’s site says “Compatible with Mac OSX when used with iMic (adaptor)”.

    The iMic itself costs $30-$40.
