hey that is the difference – big fat pipes which you can do anything with versus puny midband speeds for faster email and web surfing. that’s the difference. think about why there is what you call “whining.”

Om, you talk of a lack of killer apps hindering the rollout of broadband in the US, yet in most other developed countries esp. in Asia they have ultra fast broadband speeds at reasonable prices (on cellphones!) and they aren’t whining about a lack of killer apps.
