Zotob virus, which affected folks over at CNN is taking its toll on broadband service providers, according to Radialpoint, a Montreal-based security company. The broadband providers are seeing a sharp increased in the “support call volume compared to other recent virus outbreaks.” These could be classified as panic calls, more than anything. Eight or nine variants of the virus have been identified in the last 72 hours. The virus however has not caused much damage, other than generate more bad PR for Microsoft, because it affects Windows 2000 machines more than any other variants of Windows. I guess, most have made the move to Windows XP.
