Tom Evslin tells a story about the transformation of VSNL from a state owned levithian to a nimble free market global giant. He went to India five years ago to drum up business for his baby, ITXC, which was bought by Teleglobe. And then Teleglobe got bought by VSNL. “From my point of view, India was a different country on my next visit two years later. VoIP innovation had a large role in helping India open up so rapidly. I have a fond hope that the technology we developed will advance rapidly and benefit even more people in the hands of the new VSNL,” he writes.
