I caught this on MacNN a couple of days ago. Henrico County Public Schools is preparing to sell some of its used iBook computers that had been used as part of its effort to provide that provided laptops to every middle- and high-school student and teacher in the Richmond, Virginia-area school district. The iBooks will be available for $50 each (with a one-per-person limit.) during a one-day sale on Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET. They will be sold at Richmond International Raceway at 600 E. Laburnum Ave. on a first-come, first-serve basis. The G3-based iBooks feature 320MB of memory and Mac OS X 10.2.8.

For anyone interested, and in the area, here’s the skinny. I’d be there, except I’m in training that day and my employer would take a dim view of me dashing off (even for a cheap laptop.)

  2. I would love to be able to get one or more of these iBooks! I am a young student in California that is simply looking for a good notebook for taking notes in class and whatnot next year, so if anyone is willing to pick me up one, I would be willing to foot the cost for both the iBook ($50) and an additional $200.00 to anyone just for getting me said iBook!

Please get in contact with me ASAP if you would be willing to help me out!

    Thank you so much,
    Dalton

  4. Hey there,
I actually work for the school system and I hope that none of you were at the sale on the 16th. It was insanely crazy as you have probably already seen on your news channels. 17 people were hurt. Good luck on finding a good notebook Dalton and with school!
