Laguna Niguel, CA (PRWEB) April 15, 2005 — Active Ink Software, Inc., a Microsoft Premier PC Partner announced the general availability of an entire new family of form design products for both the PC and Tablet PC platforms. The product offerings include a Standard Edition, a Professional Edition and an Enterprise Edition of their core product, the Form Designer.

The Standard Edition adds the ability to convert a scanned image or PC document into a format that accepts ink and builds intelligence into the form by creating checkboxes, drop downs, dates and signature fields. The Standard Edition also supports the ability to export data into a Microsoft Excel or Access format or upload the data to a remote server.

The Professional Edition includes all of the features of the Standard Edition plus adds support for adding lines, shapes and images to the form. To improve upon the handwriting recognition results, the Professional Edition also includes the ability to create custom input scopes.

The Enterprise Edition includes all the features of both the Standard and Professional Editions and adds the ability to create workflow processes, template libraries, and store data either locally or remotely in a relational database. User authentication, audit trails and server synchronization are also supported.

All three products support the following processes: Document Conversion, Form Design and Data Entry.

Document Conversion
A Print Driver for converting existing documents into an Active Ink (XML) Format. Converts Word, Excel, PDF and other printable documents into a format that can be filled out using a digital pen or keyboard.

Form Design
A Form creation/editing tool for building forms for use on a Tablet PC or PC computer. The forms can be built from scratch, from a scanned image or imported from a PC document. Enhance the usability of the form by adding field types such as check boxes, drop downs and signature fields. Advanced features include formulas, input scopes and binding to database columns.

Data Entry
Fill out forms quickly and easily using a digital pen or keyboard. Support for ink annotation, drawings, auto population, importing and exporting of data and handwriting recognition.

“By expanding our product offerings, we can now offer both PC and Tablet PC users the same level of functionality without compromising on our core set of features,” says Steve Hoffman, Vice President of Active Ink Software. “We’ve also tiered our products to address different customer segments:
·    The Standard Edition is for end users that want to ink enable documents.
·    The Professional Edition is for IT professionals that want to customize forms.
·    The Enterprise Edition is for Software Developers that want to build applications around the processing of documents.

PC owners have been looking for ways to eliminate paper documents by creating the digital equivalent,” says Steve Hoffman. We’ve now addressed that need with our new family of form design products.”
