Those of you who like to keep track of these things, looks like Overture Services’ former CTO Paul Ryan who vanished into the blue after working for Microsoft for mere four months, is back in the start-up game. He is heading up a new company called Perform Local, which is trying to reinvent the local advertising space, and has backing of August Capital. In case you were keeping track, he quit weeks after Yahoo bought Overture in 2003, and joined Microsoft. Jeff Jarvis has often talked about opportunities in local media, and citizen journalism, there could some nice synergies in the “hyper local” market. As an aside, Google just introduced mobile local search services. Simple and easy… nice one guys!
